So, we are moving. . .aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!! We've been looking at homes for a long time now, and were getting our house ready to put on the market. About a month ago we found a home that we finally felt excited about. It is a Short Sale, and we were not the first offer, but we went ahead and put an offer on it, because with a Short Sale, you can basically back out without any repercussion for any reason at any time until you get into the thick of things I guess, which normally takes a lot of time (the SHORT in Short Sale does NOT refer to the amount of time it takes. . .quite the opposite).
About a week later, we finally had our home ready to put on the market. We signed with some limited representation agency because of my background in 'the biz', but we knew it was important to be on the MLS. Anyhow, after a little mix-up where our home got listed as a 3600 sq ft home with 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. . .(see why I think I'm smarter than most Real Estate agents?) the guy finally got it right with all of those numbers being 1/2 of that. . .duh. . .1800 sq ft, 4 beds, 2 baths. We had some pretty good pictures of the house, and I think that was what made our next 5 days pretty successful. We had 7 showings in 5 days, and then an offer!! And at ALMOST our asking price. Nowadays, I would consider ALMOST asking price in 5 days to be just as good as full asking price, right?! So, we signed as fast as we could, and now we're just 2 weeks away from getting kicked out!!! And the Short Sale has. . .well. . .sat wherever it is sitting for 4 more weeks, which makes it 4 weeks closer to coming to somebody's attention, right?! Well, actually some things on that front have progressed, but . . .well, I'll get to that.
So, here are the pictures of our lovely little house. The one where all of our children have learned to walk. . .The one where 2 of them first came home to. . .the one where we have such great neighbors that I want to take them with me. . .so many things about this home we are going to miss. But we really are feeling the pull to be where we are going to stay for a long long long long long long time. . .Nobody's dream-home is a split-level, is it? Well, it's not ours, although this house has been good to us. . .
So, on to a bigger and better home, right? OK, the short sale, the short sale. . .We had a pretty good idea that our offer was higher than that first one, and eventually we knew it. Last week the seller sent that first offer (who was an investor by the way, so don't go feeling bad for them or anything) a letter requesting that they either up the ante, or step aside. Well folks, they stepped aside!! So we are now in first position, with our closing date on this home looming ever nearer!!! It's a good thing my mom and dad live so close. . .yep, now we're really going to be living the dream - moving in with mom and dad!! Whoopeee!!! I keep telling myself 'Just think of the money you could save the longer you stay there. . .' It's a way to look on the bright side, right?! No, really it's going to be great and we're lucky and thankful that we have them so close by so that we're not left in the streets while the bank gets its crap together.
I'll post more details about the new house soon. It's great. We're going to love it.
