Woods Cross City does a little 5k Fun-Run and breakfast every year for Memorial Day, and since I had just started running again I wanted to go for it! We were still parking the car when they shot the gun to start, so I was a little late in starting and I still finished in 37 minutes!! Not too shabby for having an 8 week old baby, right?!
Hopefully more will follow soon!
I don't know if I'm the only one who finds this video amusing because I'm Cohens mom, but I think it's pretty funny!! Cohen is the only one who sings, well Evan sings a little bit but he wasn't even supposed to be up there!! The other two just stand there like they've never heard the song before.
So, in February, Jared had a rare week off of work, so we decided to take a trip!!! Since who knows how long until that opportunity will arise again, we decided to make it a good one and went out to Washington D.C. to visit my sister Julie and Jareds sister Lauren and her family, and of course to see the sights! I don't know how we ended up not taking very many pictures, but we didn't, so here are some that we took and since it's been so long, I can't even remember what we did! Just kidding. I'll try my best to piece a few of the memories together. . .
We decided that we wanted this vacation to feel like a vacation, so we decided to only go up into the city a few times. I was willing to be a good sport, but I don't think I could have done much more than we did with my big belly weighing me down, and that baby sitting on my sciatic nerve like he was. It turned out to be the perfect amount of sight-seeing and relaxing, and we love hanging out with Lauren and Justin. The week went by really fast.
The most exciting and scary thing that happened was that we lost Evan at the Museum of Natural History. . .yep, an enormous Smithsonian museum and we lose our 2 year old. It was getting close to closing time and so we were getting ready to leave. We parked on a bench in the foyer for a little rest and to gather everybody together. I needed to use the bathroom, so I went to do so. Apparently Evan wanted to come with me. . .I didn't know it, but everybody else assumed that I did as they watched him walk away right behind me. I came back from the bathroom and asked where he was. . ."He went with you." Ha ha. No he did not go with me. . .so we begin the search, through millions of square feet of museum. . .I kept expecting to find him around the each corner that I turned, or that each time I would circle back around to where Justin was waiting he would have been found by somebody else and would be there waiting. Each time he wasn't there I got more and more anxious. Finally Lauren went upstairs so I went downstairs, this was about after 5 minutes which seemed like forever, right? At this point I began to imagine that he had somehow gotten swept outside with the throngs of people leaving because it was closing time. I was imagining him all alone outside and that's when I lost it. Crying, trying not to, I approach a security guard and babble my situation to him. He looks at me like I'm pathetic and sends me to the security office. By the time I got there and told my story again and described him, they had found him upstairs in the gift shop, and by the time I got there, Jared had found him. Of course he was crying because he really felt lost, it wasn't like he was browsing the shop for some souvenir to take! It was SCARY!!!!! I couldn't believe all of the crazy and scary scenarios that went through my head in that 5ish minutes. We got him back, he was safe, and now we have a good story to tell, right?!
So, there you go. A few pictures and details about our trip to D.C. Better late than never, right? Now if I can only get around to posting more pictures of our cute baby!!!
